This Week On Billboard: Akon - Don't Matter
This Week On Billboard is where I unabashedly critique the current no. 1 hit on Billboard.com, the major yardstick for what's "hot" in music today. In order to simplify the review for those who don't want to read the whole article, each song is given a "!" rating, in which the finest grabs five of them.
This week witnesses his newest character, this weary love rebel, reach the singles pinnacle with "Don't Matter". The production, with its slight resemblance to "No Woman, No Cry" and the delivery, with its strong resemblance to "Ignition (Remix)", is a welcoming recess from his past work. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Akon's chipmunk voice is extremely bad.

Maybe even twice.
Plus Akon is a favorite of 5th graders everywhere. Probably because he sounds like one.
